algonac speedway

1940-1941

The Algonac Speedway was first the Agricultural and Driving Park Association park, a horse racing track that dates back to the late 1800's.  It was used for "hobo racing" and had a grand opening of sorts in July 0f 1941.  After a fatal accident the history of the track trails off perhaps also due to the U.S. involvement in World War II in December of that year.
